Black drum are the main target of species right now. Look for schools of small to large black drum slowly cruising the shallow waters of the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon. These fish can be easily taken with a live shrimp placed well ahead of the school. If live bait isn’t your method then try a artificial shrimp or crab.
Big trout are on fire right now! Look for sandy potholes to hold most of these gators. Also be on the lookout for bait. I’m taking a bunch of good size trout lurking the outside of schools of bait. Use a good swiming bait to get these guys to bite.
Redfish have been schooled up nicely along most of the flats holding good grass. Keep a good distance from them to make sure they don’t spook up. We’ve been getting redfish on all sorts of baits such as Gulp Shrimp, DOA cal’s, and even topwater when the water warms up.
