Capt. Rob Modys of SoulMate Charters, Fort Myers Beach, Fl. reported an excellent overall bite in Estero Bay. Large pompano have moved into the cuts around oyster bars and along the deep side of the grass flats. It’s not unusual to land a 2 to 3 pounder on live shrimp under corks. The sea trout bite has been good, but most are undersized, however the silver trout are moving in and biting well around the passes. There’s no size or bag limit on silvers so it doesn’t take long to get enough for dinner. Use circle hooks, split shots for weight and a live shrimp. Fish it near the bottom and use a very slow retrieve. The redfish are still biting on the inbound tide near the mangrove islands and edges. There are more small ones than big but they are still fun to catch!
